Making Peace - Medicine for a sometimes complicated human family
As a young man a Chinese friend named Chin Lin taught me that learning medicine is just as important as learning martial arts. Over the four decades since then I've learned that we humans also seriously need to learn to make peace. Starting a war is easy, learning to make peace with honor is a bit more challenging. Living in China I get to see first hand how the culture here promotes harmony, both intrapersonal and international. It's a beautiful thing to see. China is a very diverse country and people have to be more tolerant of diversity to get along as well as they do. It's an art I think, a form of Gong Fu. On an international basis I'd sure like to see more harmony between religions. It seems to me they all say: "Be good," then get to fighting about it; completely forgetting that the central messages in all are basically the same: Be good, be kind, be forgiving, help the poor, protect the weak... the same moral code all martial art true masters also teach.
So, I'm dedicating this page to harmony between people, cultures, religions, races and nations. We humans must learn to not only tolerate diversity but to appreciate and heck yeah, celebrate those differences.
